New Here

If you have recently moved to the Kingdom of Mourne or are one of the many holidaymakers in the area we would like to take a few moments and answer some of your questions about coming to Mourne PC.

We are a lively family of all ages who gather from all over the Kingdom of Mourne and further afield. When we gather on Sundays we enjoy a blend of traditional and contemporary hymns and songs. Children, young people and adults are very much a part of the family here and all play an active part in the life of the church.

What God has to say in the Bible is the main focus of our Sunday services. Through its message, applied relevantly to contemporary life, we have come to know God and discover forgiveness, grace and help. We meet week by week to worship God and to encourage one another to wholeheartedly lovingly obey Him.

We aim to be a growing church. Seeking to grow in our understanding of God’s word and deepening its application to our daily lives. Seeking to be increasingly engaged in God’s mission in this world. Seeking to grow as more people from the Kingdom of Mourne and further afield turn and trust in Jesus.

We are part of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland and so we hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith but also recognise liberty of opinion on those things that aren’t part of the core of the Christian faith. We try to measure everything by what we read in the Bible.
It is our pleasure to welcome newcomers to Mourne from any church background or none. So whether you are curious or seriously seeking a “church home” you are very welcome.

We trust that the steps below will help you know what to expect on Sunday, but there are plenty of week-day programmes if you would like to visit then.

1. WHEN TO COME? –
Sunday worship starts at 11.30am and 7.00pm.

2. WHAT TO WEAR? –
You are very welcome to come in casual clothes or in more formal attire – it’s entirely up to you. Never feel because you do not have a suit you cannot come to church – It’s you we are interested in – not your fashion sense or lack of it !!!!!.

3. WHERE TO SIT? –
You will be welcomed at the door, given a hymn book and one of the stewards will walk you to a seat. If you see someone in church you know and would like to move to sit beside them you should feel free to do so. No one has their “own private seat”.

4. WHAT HAPPENS NEXT? –
Usually one of our ministers, Rev William Bingham or Rev Andrew Mullan, will conduct the service. The congregation will join together in singing, there will be times of prayer and the Bible will be read. On a Sunday morning there will be a specific Bible lesson for children. At every service there will be a sermon. The sermon seek to state, explain, illustrate and apply the Bible passage which has been read.

5. CAN WE HELP YOU –
If you would like to talk about a personal concern or something you’ve heard in the service then you can contact William on 028 41762264 or Andrew on 028 41762659 or alternatively e-mail us at info@mournepc.org
