Girls’ Brigade is a dynamic, relevant, Christ-centred organisation reaching out to all girls to value, nurture and equip them for life. Girls’ Brigade offers a programme of fun activities for girls, designed to educate, challenge and inspire along with Christian teaching that is relevant and meaningful to girls today.
Girls are grouped into sections according to age:
Explorers: 3-7 yrs (Pre-school – P4)
Juniors: 8-10 yrs (P5 – P7)
Seniors; 11-13 yrs (Yr 8 – yr 10)
Brigaders: 14 yrs + (Yr 11 +)
The activities for all sections are mainly covered under the following 4 headings: Spiritual, Physical, Educational and Service.
- Spiritual would cover learning from the Bible, learning about our Church and its activities and finding out about missions and missionaries.
- Physical would cover team games, sports, swimming, dance etc,
- Educational would involve the girls improving their knowledge of such things as cooking, arts and crafts, health and beauty.
- Service would cover topics such as First Aid, Fire Safety, Helping Charities, Caring for Animals
Explorers meet in the church halls every Tuesday from 5.30pm to 7pm. Mrs Janice McKee leads the Explorer section
Juniors, Seniors and Brigaders also meet on Tuesdays from 7.15pm to 9pm. Mrs Sandra Gordon (present Captain) takes charge of the Juniors, Seniors and Brigaders.
We usually start around the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday of September and run until late March/early April.
